Pre-care

Prepare for your session by following our pre-care tips, ensuring your spa experience is as soothing and revitalizing as possible.
  • Discontinue retinoids (Retin‑A, retinol), AHAs/BHAs (glycolic, salicylic), benzoyl peroxide, and other exfoliants at least 3–7 days before your appointment—retinoids often need a full week’s break
  • Don’t wax, use depilatories, shave, or bleach facial hair for at least 7 days pre‑treatment
  • Steer clear of tanning beds, sunburn, and sunless tanners for 1–2 weeks before your session to reduce risk of irritation
  • Drink plenty of water and use gentle moisturizers to keep skin supple, which helps give a smoother dermaplaning experience
  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin—double‑cleanse with a gentle formula to remove oils and debris
  • If you get cold sores, consider a preventative antiviral before your appointment to reduce risk of outbreak
  • Wait at least 2 weeks after Botox, fillers, or fresh permanent makeup around the face before dermaplaning
  • Postpone the treatment if you have sunburns, wounds, active acne, or open lesions—they need to be fully healed first

Aftercare

Keep your skin glowing and fabulous with our insider aftercare tips, ensuring you maximize you treatment results.
  • Cleanse with a mild, non-foaming cleanser (no rough cloths!) twice daily, starting 4–24 hours after treatment
  • Apply a fragrance-free, hydrating moisturizer with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides, or aloe vera to restore the skin barrier
  • Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for at least 48 hour
  • Let skin breathe—skip foundation and powders for 24 hours, or until any redness subsides
  • Hold off on retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, scrubs, and enzyme masks for at least 48 hours (preferably a week) to prevent irritation
  • No intense workouts, hot tubs, steam rooms, or saunas for 24–48 hours—sweat can irritate freshly exposed skin
  • Drink plenty of water and eat water-rich foods to support skin recovery from the inside out
  • Avoid touching, picking, or rubbing the face—to prevent contaminating or damaging the sensitive surface
